What Happens If a Patient’s Condition Changes Before Surgery?

If a patient’s condition changes before their operation, whether they recover or become more unwell, your donation is never wasted. We’ll always ensure it is redirected to help another child in urgent need.

What Happens If a Patient's Condition Changes Before Surgery?

What Happens if a Patient’s Condition Changes

1. If the Child No Longer Needs Surgery

In rare cases, a child’s condition may improve or resolve on its own, making surgery unnecessary. When this happens:

  • We remove the child’s case from the website

  • Any donations made are reallocated to another child in need of surgery

  • You’ll be notified and shown how your donation has been redirected

2. If the Child Becomes Too Unwell for Surgery

Sometimes a child may develop complications or another illness that means their operation has to be postponed or cancelled. In this case:

  • We work closely with the local medical team to monitor the child’s condition

  • If surgery is delayed, your donation is held until they are well enough to proceed

  • If surgery becomes impossible, the funds are used for another child in similar need

3. Our Promise of Transparency

We understand how important it is to know where your donation goes. That’s why:

  • 100% of your donation always goes to surgery costs

  • You will always see the child who benefits from your support

  • We’ll never use your donation for admin or overheads
