Do patients have to wait for their operation until they’re fully funded?

Humanity Direct patients do not have to wait for full funding before they get the medical care they need.

We hold money on account so operations can always go ahead as soon as the surgeon can schedule them in. However, that money needs replenishing so we can take on further cases.

For emergency cases, where surgery is performed before fundraising, Humanity Direct covers the costs, and the case is later posted for donations to settle the bill.

This model ensures that urgent medical needs are met promptly, without being tied to the pace of donations, prioritising patient health above all else. Even after a surgery has been performed, the patient’s profile remains on the Humanity Direct website until the associated costs are fully covered by donations.

Donors can take comfort in knowing that their contributions are helping to clear medical debts and ensuring that hospitals can continue providing care to other patients in need.
