What is Glasses for Classes?

Glasses for Classes is our initiative to bring eye care and glasses to children who can’t see properly.

We hold three rounds of eye tests a year during term times visiting at least five schools at every round.   So far we’ve provided over 30,000 eye tests providing over 4000 children with the poorest eye sight with a pair of prescription glasses.

We work in rural areas where classrooms are dark because there is no electricity, and the blackboard is often extremely worn, leaving many students struggling to see what they need to study.
Some students will struggle with distance, and others will struggle with near vision. For those that can’t see properly a pair of glasses can mean the difference between being able to see what you need to study to pass your exams and staying in school or failing your exams and leaving school early.
Our Glasses for Classes students have big ambitions – they want to be teachers, doctors, engineers and accountants. A pair of glasses means they’ll be able to see what they’re studying, pass their exams and fulfill those ambitions!
