What is Humanity Direct’s process for featuring patients on website?

Patients featured on Humanity Direct’s website are selected through a meticulous and compassionate process designed to identify children in need of surgical care but cannot access it.

Our outreach clinics provide children and their families a chance to meet with a healthcare worker and discuss their healthcare concerns.  These clinics are often the first point of contact for many families who are unable to access basic medical services.

If our healthcare workers assessment determines that a child’s only options is an operation they are then referred for a consultation with one of our  surgeons.

The consultation is a chance for the parents or carers to discuss the condition in more detail, find out about the surgical treatment available and give consent.

Once the surgery has been agreed and scheduled the patient can then featured on Humanity Direct’s website, where potential donors can learn about the specific situation, the type of surgery required, and the estimated costs.

This transparent approach allows donors to see exactly how their contributions will be used, creating a direct and personal connection between the donor and the child in need. By featuring these cases on the website, Humanity Direct not only raises the necessary funds for the operation, but also raises awareness about the critical need for accessible surgical care globally.
