What Happens When a Case Is Fully Funded

What Happens When a Case Is Fully Funded – Explained

Many donors are often left wondering what happens when a case is fully funded. But the truth is, once that milestone’s reached, some truly amazing things start to happen in a pretty short space of time. With Humanity Direct’s 100% donation model, as soon as a child’s surgery reaches its full funding amount, we spring into action to get their operation scheduled and done – and that’s happening fast.

What Happens When a Case Is Fully Funded

Immediate word to our Partner Hospital

Once a case is fully funded, we immediately give our partner hospital the all-clear. That’s because with the full medical cost now taken care of, the hospital can book the surgery without any unnecessary delays. And let’s be real, in some countries, that can be a huge obstacle – families can’t afford the deposits or advance payments, which means surgeries get delayed far too often.

Getting the Child Ready for Surgery

The medical team gets to work arranging:

  • All the pre-operative tests that are needed
  • A thorough physical examination to make sure everything is good to go
  • The required bloodwork to ensure the child is ok for surgery
  • a review of what anaesthetic they’ll need and make any necessary arrangements

And the families get all the support and instructions they need. We even arrange transport for the kids who live a long way away from the hospital, so cost or distance isn’t ever an issue, and they can get to the hospital to receive the treatment they need.

The Surgery Takes Place

Once it’s all scheduled, the operation gets carried out by a fully qualified surgical team at the hospital. Whether it’s repairing a hernia, removing a tumour or restoring someone’s sight, the procedure is done with the same level of care and professionalism as you’d get at any private hospital anywhere in the world.

Post-Surgery Recovery & Updates

After the surgery, our team gets in touch with the hospital to get all the latest updates – with the family’s full consent, of course. And then we send a message to all the donors to let them know that the child they supported has been treated and is recovering well.

That’s the beauty of what happens after a case is fully funded – the kindness of our donors is literally giving a child a second chance at life.
