14-yr-old Trevor had been living with a large tumour in his mouth that severely affected his quality of life.
What began as a small swelling gradually grew into a serious condition, making it difficult for him to eat comfortably.
As the tumour increased in size, so did the risks to his overall health. For Trevor and his family, the situation was overwhelming—especially as the care he needed was far beyond their financial reach.
We never let any of our patients wait for their surgery to be funded. As soon as they are diagnosed they are booked in for surgery. This meant that Trevor was able to undergo the maxillofacial surgery he urgently needed. The operation was performed by Dr Adrian Kamulegeya, an experienced maxillofacial surgeon, who successfully removed the tumour and addressed the complications it had caused.
Since the surgery, Trevor has begun his journey to recovery and he can now eat and drink in comfort.
However, we still need to cover the costs of his operation. The costs include transport to and from hospital, the actual surgery and post-op care.
