Lucy’s needed surgery to for a large tumour around her eye.

At just 10 years old, Lucy was living with a large tumour around her eye.

The tumour had grown significantly and was putting Lucy’s eyesight at risk. She urgently needed specialist surgery to remove it.

At Humanity Direct, we believe no child should have to wait for essential surgery simply because the money to pay for it hasn’t yet been raised. Once we are involved, no child waits for surgery. So we went ahead and arranged Lucy’s operation, covering the cost so she could receive the treatment she needed without delay.

Ophthalmic surgeon Dr Irene Nansubuga performed an orbital tumour excision, carefully removing the tumour from around Lucy’s eye.

Lucy has made a good recovery following her surgery and can now look forward to moving on with her childhood without the burden of the tumour.

But Lucy’s operation still needs to be funded.
