18-year-old Antonia had been living with a large swelling on one side of her face that was becoming increasingly uncomfortable.
After attending one of our clinics Antonia was diagnosed with an ossifying fibroma of the maxilla – a benign tumour affecting the upper jaw that can cause facial deformity and functional problems if left untreated.
At Humanity Direct, we never let patients wait for such vital surgery. As soon as Antonia’s condition was confirmed, we arranged the maxillofacial surgery she needed, performed by leading maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Adrian Kamulegeya.
Dr Kamulegeya removed the tumor and Antonia has made a great recovery and is no longer experiencing any pain or discomfort.
We now need to cover the cost of that operation so we can continue to take on more operations for more children like Antonia.
