5 Effective Charity Fundraising Ideas

Why Fundraising Matters for Humanity Direct

Donations fund our surgical and eye care outreach clinics, essentially putting fuel in our minibus, so our healthcare coordinators can reach areas where children, far from medical care, can be assessed for treatment.

Donations also fund our eye test clinics, allowing us to visit schools, and provide eye tests for students struggling to see their studies so they can get a pair of glasses.

None of it can be done without our amazing fundraisers so if you would like to fundraise for us here are 5 effective charity fundraising ideas:

1.  Sign Up For One of Our XNRG Ultra Marathons!

We hold three XNRG ultra marathons every year where you can walk or run 10km, 25km or even 50km! These are great events, taking in beautiful scenery while being cheered on by a fantastic crew providing you with support and snacks all the way. These popular races are known for their great atmosphere and are especially good for those looking for a supportive event for their first ultra within easy reach of London.

2. Choose Your Event and Run for Free

You don’t need to run one of our ultra marathons to fundraise for Humanity Direct patients! If there’s an event you’re thinking of doing, whether it’s a major event like the London Marathon or a 10km run, if you pledge to raise 3 times the cost of the entry fee for the event, we’ll pay for the entry.

3. Set Your Challenge

Whatever you do – a trek, a swim, a mountain climb – anything that gets you out of your comfort zone we’re interested! If you use your challenge to raise money for our clinics we’ll do everything we can to support you.  One of our amazing fundraisers raced through the Arctic Circle to fund a major operation for one of our patients – you can read his blog here for inspiration. And in 2025 we have Bob Yates running the length of Britain!

4. Celebrate Your Birthday With Us

A great way of fundraising is to ask for donations instead of presents. It could be as simple as asking them to donate to our Universal Fund.

5. Hold a Cake Sale

Who doesn’t love a cake sale? It’s a great way of bringing people together while raising some money.

Our next fundraising event is our XNRG Santa Virtual Challenge. Clock up the miles throughout December as we race each other towards Christmas Day & earn those mince pies!

Whether you do 50kms, 300kms or have a personal goal to achieve you’ll see your progress on the virtual leader board. It’s only £15 to enter with the money raised funding life-changing & life-saving operations for children in Uganda who don’t have access to the medical care they need.
