Why Humanity Direct should be your 2026 marathon charity – Choose your marathon charity

common running injuries

As everyone rides the high of the 2025 London Marathon (and quickly enters the ballot for the 2026 TCS London Marathon), lots of people find themselves discussing if they were to run a marathon, who would they run for? Lots of things can factor in when deciding how to choose your marathon charity and who to run for so we’ve made a list of reasons why we should be your 2026 marathon charity!

choose your marathon charity

Choose your marathon charity, choose Humanity Direct!

  1. 100% of funding goes to patients! This is a pretty big and important factor. Other charities can lack transparency of where your money is going, often leaving you wondering where your money is going. By fundraising for Humanity Direct you can be sure that 100% of your money goes to making the children’s surgery happen.

  1. Free entry! If you pledge to raise 3 times the cost of the entry fee for the event, we’ll pay for the entry and send you a t- shirt as well!

  1. Operation transparency. You can either fundraise for all the children, leaving us to dedicate the money to those we feel need it most (don’t worry, everyone gets their surgery funded!) Or, you can fundraise for one child specifically. Once a child has their surgery funded, you will be able to see updates under the success stories section of our website, as well as photos of them post-operation. Please get in touch and we can create a custom fundraiser page for you.

  1. Run, walk or skip, we don’t care how you do your marathon, we just care that you’re doing it! You don’t need to be fast to run for Humanity Direct, the fact that you’re doing it enough for us. Whether you complete your marathon in 3 hours or 9 hours, we will support you through it all.

  1. Marathons are our speciality, and we’re here to help you every step of the way! As a small charity, your donations make a huge impact for us! Just £220 is enough to fund an hernia removal surgery for a child. £360 covers an adenoidectomy, a small but life-changing operation for many children.

If we haven’t persuaded you already, check out our success stories page to see the real impact your money can have on the lives of children in Uganda.
