Zaituni is recovery well after surgery for a severe burn

13-year-old Zaituni suffered severe burns to her back in an accident. At the time, her family was unable to reach or afford medical care, so they did their best to manage her wounds at home. Unfortunately, the injury didn’t heal properly. Instead, it became infected, and the resulting scarring caused a painful contracture—a condition that restricts movement and risks permanent damage.

Zaituni needed surgery to release the contracture, drain the abscess, and ensure the wound was properly treated to prevent further complications and reduce permanent scarring.

Thanks to generous donations, Zaituni’s surgery was performed by Dr. Dan Namaguzi. The support covered not only the operation itself but also the transport to and from the hospital, medical supplies, and essential post-operative care—a crucial help in overcoming one of the biggest barriers to treatment in resource-limited settings.
