Rashid has made a great recovery from brain surgery

17-yr-old Rashid has made a great recovery after major neurosurgery.

Rashid had a two tumours one on his brain and one on his spine and as the tumours grew they pressed on nerves and begun to affect his ability to walk.

These are among the more complex but vital operations we fund.

Dr. Hussein Ssenyonjo, who performed the operation to remove the tumours, is one of just 12 neurosurgeons in Uganda (serving a population of 44 million).  The operation was a success with both tumours removed.  The surgery meant Rashid was able to progress to a round of radiotherapy.

None of this would have been possible without the money raised By Alex Kersey who earlier this year took part in one of our XNRG fundraisers.

The money raised covered the costs of the consultation, CT scans, actual surgery, hospital stay and transport to and from hospital.
