Prossy

15-yr-old Prossy has made a great recovery following life changing maxillofacial surgery.

Prossy, had been living with fibrous dysplasia — a condition where fibrous tissue replaces normal bone, causing it to become weak, misshapen, and prone to deformity. In her case, this led to a painful and progressive expansion of her right maxillary bone, affecting her cheek and upper jaw.

What began as a small swelling gradually grew, changing the shape of her face and making everyday activities like eating increasingly difficult. Without treatment, the condition would have continued to worsen, with serious risks to her health, breathing, and overall wellbeing.

Thanks to your support, Prossy was able to undergo the specialist surgery she urgently needed. The procedure was carried out by Dr Macho, who carefully removed and reshaped the affected bone to restore both function and facial structure.

We’re delighted to share that Prossy’s surgery was a success and Prossy has been able to return to school with her newfound confidence.
