4-yr-old Mathew is back to running around with his friends after surgery for an epigastric hernia.
Mathew’s mum was worried after noticing a large protruding lump near Mathew’s stomach - the tell tale sign of a hernia. Hernia’s can turn into a serious condition if they become strangulated or incarcerated, a situation that needs immediate emergency surgery.
Yet our patients don’t live anywhere near medical care and they simply wouldn’t be able to reach the emergency surgery they need in time. By operating now we take away that worry of hernia complications happening in the future.
Thanks to everyone who took part in the Amersham Ultra we were able to cover the bill for Mathews operation including the actual surgery, transport, medical supplies and post-op care.
