Latif’s is taking his first steps hernia free!
We’re so happy to share that Latif has successfully undergone surgery for a scrotal hernia—a condition that, while common, can risk life-threatening complications without timely medical care.
Latif was diagnosed with a scrotal hernia, a type of inguinal hernia where part of the intestine pushes down into the scrotum. Although sometimes painless at first, these hernias carry a serious risk of complications like incarceration or strangulation —where the blood supply to the bowel is cut off, leading to a medical emergency.
For children like Latif, who live far from emergency medical services, waiting until a complication occurs can mean the difference between life and death. Thanks to your generous donations, Latif and his family no longer have to worry about that risk.
Latif received the surgery he needed before any complications set in, and he’s now recovering well—free from pain, risk, and worry.
This is one of the many operations funded by Bob Yates epic 1000 mile challenge that raised £10,000.  A huge thank you to Bob and everyone who donated.
