We're so happy to announce that Joan has had her surgery to remove a large tumour.
Joan had a large growth on her face known as a maxilla-ossifying fibroma, a rare noncancerous tumour that had been gradually increasing in size.
The tumour first started growing three years ago and had lead to disfigurement that was becoming so large it was starting to cover her eye.
Dr Adrian Kamulegeya, Maxillofacial Surgeon, performed the operation to remove the growth.
Donations covered every aspect of Joan's treatment from the actual operation to the transport to and from hospital (often the biggest barrier) and post-op care.
Not only has Joan had the surgery she needed but she and can now see properly it also means a return to school.
On behalf of Joan, Joan's family and everyone at HD, a huge Thank You to everyone who took part in our XNRG Virtual Santa Challenge.
