Gabriel has had the surgery he needed for hypospadias.

Hypospadias is a common birth defect of the urethra where the urinary opening is not at the correct location. It can be an embarrassing condition and has been linked to an increased risk urinary tract infections and of testicular cancer.

The operation, which lasts about two hours and is considered routine surgery, is a great example of how timely and safe surgery can prevent a condition from deteriorating and causing more serious issues.  Once patients have recovered they can often return home on the same day.

Leading urology surgeon Dr Dan, Namaguzi performed this operation.

Donations covered the actual surgery, transport to and from hospital and medication to help reduce the inflammation and any pain post-op.
