For years, 14-year-old Baswalu lived with a growing facial swelling caused by an ameloblastoma -  a rare, benign but aggressive tumour of the jaw.

What started as a small lump slowly expanded, threatening to erode bone and soft tissue, distort his face, and make eating and speaking increasingly difficult. Without timely treatment, the tumour would have continued to grow, putting his health, confidence, and future at serious risk.

Thanks to the incredible support of donors who took part in the XNRG fundraiser, Baswalu was able to have the life-changing surgery he desperately needed.

Under the skilled hands of maxillofacial surgeons Dr Kamyulegera and Dr. Daniel Macho, Baswalu underwent a complex operation to remove the ameloblastoma and reconstruct his jaw. The surgery was a success with the tumour fully exercised and the affected area rebuilt, preserving both function and appearance.

Today, Baswalu is recovering well. The swelling that once dominated his face is gone, and with it the fear of further damage or disfigurement. He is eating more comfortably, speaking more clearly, and most importantly, feeling more like himself again.

This transformation was made possible by the generosity of the XNRG community. Your donations covered the costs of surgery, postoperative care, and ongoing follow-up, giving Baswalu not just medical treatment, but a renewed sense of hope and a future filled with possibilities.
