Amilah

Little Amilah has had the surgery she needed for enlarged adenoids.

Amilah being anaesthetised.

Amilah's mum noticed that she was finding it hard to breathe properly through her nose and had had several bad bouts of earache and sore throats.

After attending one of our clinics it was clear that Amilah had enlarged adenoids, a swelling of the lymph tissue that sits between the nose and the back of your throat, blocking the airway.

There are many problems associated with this condition including persistent congestion, ear problems, sinusitis, disruption to sleep and problems eating.

Surgeons normally suggest, in young children, waiting and seeing if the adenoids shrink as they grow up.  However, as in Amilah's case, sometimes the adenoids are so enlarged and causing such significant issues that waiting isn't acceptable and surgery sooner rather than later is the best course of action.

Amilah's adenoids were very enlarged so she was booked in for an adenoidectomy, an operation to surgically remove the adenoids performed by ENT surgeons.

Amilah's operation was performed by Ear, Nose and Throat Consultant, Dr Juluis Wambete.

The operation went really well and Amilah has made a great recovery.

On behalf of Amilah and her mum a huge Thank You to Sujel  who took part in one of our XNRG events and fundraised to cover the cost of Amilah's operation.
