4-yr-old Catherine has had life-saving surgery.
Catherine is a bright 4-year-old girl who was born with anorectal malformation (ARM) — a serious congenital condition that prevented her from passing stools properly and placed her at risk of infections and other complications affecting her digestive, spinal, and urinary systems.
From birth, her parents did everything they could to keep her clean and comfortable, but without specialist surgical care, her condition could not improve. Thanks to your support, Catherine was able to undergo the complex, multi-stage treatment she urgently needed.
Her journey began with an initial operation to create a stoma, allowing waste to safely leave her body. This was followed by a Posterior Sagittal Anorectoplasty (PSARP), where a new, functional opening was carefully created. After a period of recovery, Catherine then underwent a final procedure to close the colostomy — successfully completing her treatment.
Catherine is now recovering well and, for the first time, has the chance to live free from the daily challenges and discomfort she has faced since birth.
Donations made this entire journey possible — covering specialist paediatric anaesthesia, pre-operative investigations, multiple surgeries, hospital stays, medications, dressings, and post-operative care.
Thank you for helping make this life-changing transformation possible.
