Baby Aqil has had life saving hernia surgery.

At just six months old, Aqil had been struggling with a painful hernia that caused distress and frequent episodes of inconsolable crying. What should have been a special time of watching their baby grow has instead been marked by discomfort and worry for his family.

Accessing even routine surgical care can be a major challenge for families, and without treatment, Aqil’s condition carried serious risks. Hernias in infants can quickly become life-threatening if complications arise.

Thanks to the support of Humanity Direct donors, Aqil was able to receive the surgery he urgently needed.

The procedure was successfully carried out by urologist Dr Dan Namaguzi, who carefully repaired the hernia and ensured the weakened muscle was strengthened to prevent further complications.

Since the operation, Aqil is no longer in pain. The swelling has resolved, and he is far more settled and content. He is now feeding and sleeping well.

This simple yet life-changing procedure has given Aqil the healthy start every child deserves.
