Benitah

For 11-year-old Benitah, what began as a small swelling on her jaw slowly grew into a painful cyst that made eating and speaking increasingly difficult.

The discomfort was constant, and as the swelling became more noticeable, it began to affect her confidence. In a community where medical care is limited and specialised treatment is often out of reach, conditions like hers can go untreated for years risking permanent damage to bone and tissue.

Thanks to the generosity of Humanity Direct supporters, Benitah can now smile again.

Under the expert care of Dr. Daniel Macho, a skilled maxillofacial surgeon, Benitah underwent a delicate operation to excise the cyst.

Dr. Macho carefully removed the cyst and cleaned the surrounding bone to help prevent recurrence, ensuring that her jaw could heal properly and continue to grow without complications.

Today, Benitah is recovering well. The constant ache that once made meals difficult and conversations painful is gone. She can now eat comfortably, speak clearly, and smile without hesitation.

For her family, this operation has brought profound relief. The treatment they could never have afforded on their own has restored their daughter’s comfort, health, and happiness.

Donations covered every aspect of Benitah’s care from transport to and from hospital, to her surgery, hospital stay, and post-operative recovery.
