1-yr-old Lydia had just started to stand and taking her first steps when her mum attended one of our clinics to share her concerns about her daughters health.
Our medics discovered that Lydia has an anorectal malformation, a condition that causes problems with a child’s bowel movements that can pose serious health risks.
We organised for Lydia to have complex surgery - a posterior sagittal anorectoplasty (PSARP) - an operation requires highly specialised skills.
Dr. Sekabira, the first person to perform such surgery in Uganda, performed Lydia's operation and she has made a fantastic recovery.
Thanks to everyone who took part in our XNRG Amersham Ultra and made this possible. Your donations covered all the cost of Lydia's medical care including, the actual surgery, medical supplies, hospital stay and transport.
