Normally a very active and lively 4-year-old Nicholas’s inguinal hernia is starting to cause him discomfort. An inguinal hernia appears as a lump or swelling in the groin. Sometime the swelling can be painful and this is the case for Nicholas. Complications such as obstruction (when the bowel becomes stuck in the inguinal canal) and strangulation (where a section of the bowel becomes trapped and the blood supply is cut off) can happen if the hernia isn’t surgically removed and these conditions can prove fatal if emergency surgery isn’t performed. As Nicholas’s family live in a remote area it is unlikely he would reach medical care in time if complications were to happen.
Donations will cover every aspect of his treatment including medical supplies and transport to and from hospital.
