Four-year-old Samuel has bilateral cryptorchidism - otherwise known as undescended testis. Samuel needs to have an orchidopexy, a straightforward operation with a good success rate. Without surgery Samuel is at greater risk of testicular cancer and fertility problems later in life as well as urinary tract infections. Orchidopexy is a typical example of the low-cost, high-impact surgery that we fund.
Samuel is an orphan and his paternal uncle who cares for him cannot afford to pay for the operation. Donations will cover all the medical costs associated with the surgery including the medical supplies and even transport to and from hospital (one of the most common barriers to seeking healthcare is the cost of reaching medical care in the first place).
