Four-year old Rosette is urgently needing an operation to correct an umbilical hernia. The hernia, as well as causing considerable discomfort, means that she is unable to play with friends and generally carry on her life as a normal four-year old would do. Doctors are also keen to operate before any complications can set in. Complications as a result of a hernia can be fatal as patients have little chance of reaching emergency medical care in time. Hernia operations are typical of the low-cost, high impact operations we fund. Rosette’s mother is bringing her up on her own and is unable to pay for the surgery herself. Donations will cover all aspects of the surgery, not only making Rosette better, but preventing her mother from getting into debt and further into poverty.
