Rahma is a 3-year-old girl from Mogadishu, Somalia, who contracted hydrocephalus following meningitis. The hydrocephalus caused Rahma’s head to swell and put a lot of pressure on her brain, damaging her vision and hearing. Rahma needed a lot of care as her condition was affecting her feeding, sleeping and temperament. Treatment was unavailable in Somalia so her mother spent all her money getting to the Edna Adan Hospital in Hargeisa, Somaliland. There was no money left to pay for the treatment but thanks to Jessie, Scott and two anonymous donors who covered the costs Rahma was able to have the surgery she needed. Rahma is now home and making a strong recovery.
