4-year-old Philip has a large inguinal hernia - a small sac that should have closed up around the time of birth bud didn’t and instead allows other abdominal organs to come through into the groin. In boys, the organ is usually a loop of bowel and can protrude and cause discomfort. Inguinal hernia’s never go away without treatment and if left untreated the loop of bowel or other organ may become trapped or incarcerated and can damage or kill the trapped organ, putting the life of the patient at risk. Philip’s hernia is large and surgeons are concerned that another organ could become trapped. His parents are very poor and while they are desperate for Philip to get the surgery he needs they have no means of affording it. Every penny of your donation towards Philip will be spent on his surgery and recovery.
