12-year-old Paul needed surgery to restore vision to his left eye and to prevent any further damage that could end up making him irreversibly blind after getting dirt in it. When our volunteers met Paul he had been wearing a make-shift eye patch and his mother had been bathing it in the hope it would get better as they knew they couldn’t afford the treatment he needed. Paul hasn’t been able to attend school since the accident happened and his mother was really worried about would happen to him if he didn’t get the use of his eye back.
Paul is one of the many children we come across who sustain everyday injuries, typical of children his age, but for whom the consequences are can result in a life-long disability simply because they can’t afford the medical care he needs.
Thanks to Anna we were able to fully fund his surgery.
