5-year-old Paul has had a tough start in life. His father abandoned the family shortly after he was born and his mother passed away a couple of years ago. Paul’s uncle now cares for him. Paul has hydrocele - a swelling caused by fluid accumulating around the testicles. Paul’s hydrocele is considerably large and is causing him discomfort. Our healthcare volunteers arranged for him to see a doctor who confirmed that surgery is the only option to get rid of the hydrocele. Recent research has said that addressing hydrocele should be a high priority on the global surgery agenda and is typical of the low-cost, high-impact operations we fund.
Paul’s uncle doesn’t have the means to pay for the operation so we’re hoping we can cover the bill. Donations will cover the cost of surgery, medical supplies and transport to and from the hospital.
