Muzeeyi is a seven-year-old school boy from Uganda who needs surgery to remove an inguinal hernia.
An inguinal hernia is among the most common surgical problems of childhood often appearing as a swelling caused by fatty tissue or a part of the bowel, such as the intestine, poking through into the groin at the top of the inner thigh. Inguinal hernias never go away without treatment.
Muzeeyi’s hernia is large and is causing him discomfort on his long walk to school. Left untreated hernias risk becoming incarcerated or strangulated, complications that need emergency surgery. Muzeeyi’s family live in a remote village and if complications were to set in it would be unlikely he would reach medical care in time.
By donating to cover the costs of Muzeeyi’s operation, as well as making him better, you’ll help prevent his mother getting into debt and further poverty. Every penny donated will cover every aspect of his treatment including the medical supplies and even the transport to and from hospital.
