4-year-old Mark needed an operation to correct undescended testis. The condition is best treated in early childhood, usually between a year and eighteen months of age however, Marks parents avoided seeking medical treatment as they couldn’t afford the cost. Although not painful children with undescended testis have a higher risk of testicular cancer in the future and if they remain in the abdomen or high up in the groin, they are also at greater risk of testicular torsion. Thank’s to Anna’s marathon challenge the cost of Mark’s surgery were fully funded.
Not only did Mark get the medical care he needed but Marks parents were able to avoid getting into debt and poverty. Dr Sskabira explains how the operation went.
