Three-year-old Lawrence has bilateral cryptorchidism (otherwise known as undescended testis - where the testis remain in the abdomen rather than the scrotum) and he needs to have an orchidopexy to correct it. An orchidopexy is a straightforward operation with a good success rate and is typical of the high-impact, low-cost surgery we fund. Without surgery he is at greater risk of testicular cancer, testicular torsion and fertility problems later in life.
His mother is on her own after the father abandoned them and she has no means to pay for medical treatment. We’re hoping we can cover the costs so that Lawrence gets the operation he needs and his mother doesn’t have to get into poverty or debt.
