Eight year old Jonathan from Uganda is a typical little boy who loves playing with friends and going to school. But his condition, an umbilical hernia, means he’s having to miss more and more school as time goes on. The hernia causes him great discomfort and generally stops him form leading a normal life. His father abandoned the family and has left Jonathan’s mother to raise him alone. Unable to pay for any surgery herself, Jonathan’s mother visited our clinic in the hope that we could help. The operation is straightforward and typical of the low-cost, high-impact surgery we fund. Treating hernia’s is one of the most cost-effective health interventions in developing countries. All donations will cover every aspect of Jonathan’s surgery including his post-operative care.
