10-year-old Ivan has a large hernia that has been protruding for sometime. Ivan’s family put off seeking medical treatment as they knew they couldn’t afford to pay for an operation. Recently Ivan started to complain that it was causing him some discomfort especially when he was running around playing football with his friends. Our healthcare volunteers heard about his case and arranged for him to be assessed by our surgeons in Kampala.
The surgeons explained that an operation was his only option and that left untreated life-threatening complications could set in. Thank’s to Anna Ivan has now had surgery to remove the hernia and has made a fantastic recover. Hernia operations are ranked among the best healthcare interventions in the developing world and are a typical example of the low-cost, high-impact surgery we fund. Donations will cover the cost of surgery, medical supplies and transport to and from the hospital.
