Gideon is three-and-an-half year old and from Uganda. He needs an operation to correct a ventral hernia which causes him considerable pain and discomfort and ultimately prevents him from playing and doing all the normal things a child should do. Complications from hernias can prove fatal if emergency care is not administered in time. Surgeons are extremely keen to start surgery as soon as possible to prevent any kind of complications taking place. Gideon’s mother is simply unable to pay for the surgery herself without putting the family further into poverty. Operations for hernia’s are typical of the low-cost surgeries we raise money for, to help children like Gideon lead normal, happy and healthy lives.
