Eight-year-old Frederick has an inguinal hernia that needs surgery. The hernia is painful, causing him great discomfort and ultimately stops him running around and playing with his friends. Hernias are common but if left untreated, they can lead to complications such as if the hernia becomes incarcerated or strangulated resulting in emergency surgery. Surgeon’s are keen to operate because it will reduce the risk of these life-threatening complications setting in. Hernia surgery is typical of the low-cost, high-impact operations we fund. Donations will cover all the costs associated with his surgery including his hospital stay and transport to and from the hospital.
