Francis is a seven-year-old school boy (although he was very keen to tell our healthcare volunteers that he was almost eight!). Francis has recently been diagnosed with bilateral hydrocele - fluid around the scrotum. The hydrocele itself isn’t painful but it is swollen and its causing him a lot of discomfort when he moves. Surgeons have recommended a procedure called a hydrocelectomy - a straight forward operation typical of the low-cost, high-impact surgery we fund. Donations will cover all the cost associated with his operation including all the medical supplies, post-operative care and even the transport to and from the hospital (one of the main reasons why people don’t seek medical care is that many can’t afford to even reach their nearest medical facilities).
