Two-year-old Faswali has PPV- Pertent Procesus Vagnalis - an abnormal communication between the abdomen and scrotum predisposing him to hernias and other conditions such as hydrocele. Hernias are a common cause of intestinal obstruction among children in Uganda and these can, if left untreated, lead to life threatening complications. Surgeons are keen to operate on Faswali before the PPV results in an obstruction. The operation at this stage has a far lower risk of complications and will be a lot cheaper than leaving it until his condition worsens.
Donations will cover all the cost of the surgery including the medical-supplies, post-operative care and transport to and from hospital.
