Edwin had a unusually large umbilical hernia that hadn’t closed up by itself. As Edwin has just started to take his first steps our surgeons were concerns that as the hernia is so large and protruding it could lead to complications as he continues to knock it when moving around. Complications such as a strangulated hernia’s can be fatal in developing countries as it is unlikely that Edwin would reach emergency medical care in time. Therefore, even though we hadn’t raised the full amount our surgeon’s operated as soon as possible. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far and if you would like to contribute to help cover the bill please visit: humanitydirect.org.
