Six-year-old Catherine lives in a remote village in Uganda and loves going to school. Catherine told our doctors that the hernia causes her a lot of discomfort especially when she walks to school. Surgery is Catherine’s only option and without treatment fatal complications could arise. If complications set in emergency surgery is needed but as medical care is scarce where Catherine lives it is unlikely she would reach help in time. Catherine’s family are desperate for their daughter to have the operation but would have to borrow money to fund it which would only plunge them further into poverty. We are hoping to raise all the money that will cover the cost of the surgery, post-operative care and transport to and from the hospital.
