Like most 18-month-old toddlers Carol is very active. Carol’s mum noticed some time ago that Carol had a large mass that wouldn’t go away that seemed to be increasing in size and starting to restrict Carol’s movements. On the day our healthcare volunteers visited Carol’s village to talk to her family about getting her assessed for surgery Carol seemed in pain and was running a temperature. Our volunteers were concerned that it was a sign that complications had already set in and immediately took her to our medical centre where surgeons agreed to operate on her as an emergency case. The operation went well and Carol made a good recovery. Thanks to Team AlFi who fundraised to cover the cost of her surgery. This film of Dr Emmanuel just after the operation was performing explaining how it went.
