Baby Girl arrived a month early weighing in at 1.2kg. Her parents didn’t give her a name as is customary in Somaliland to wait, especially if the baby is poorly and may not survive. Our doctors wanted Baby Girl to remain in hospital under observation for a couple of weeks until she gained weight and her lungs had developed. However, her distraught parents, wanted to take her home as they had no money to pay for such a lengthy hospital stay and the treatment she needed. Thanks to our donors who covered the costs Baby Girl was able to stay in hospital with donations paying for oxygen cylinders and the costs of keeping the incubators running and special baby food.
