Andrew is 10-years-old and like many children his age loves to play football. However, as he suffers from an umbilical hernia the swelling and pain make it very difficult for Andrew to run and play like the other children. His mother is raising Andrew and his sister on her own and is unable to pay for the surgery that is needed. Having the surgery will not only reduce the risk of life-threatening complications setting in, but it will also mean Andrew can get back to playing football and his mother won’t have to get into debt and further poverty. Hernia surgery is typical of the low-cost, high-impact operations we fund. The total amount raised for Andrew will go towards the full cost of surgery as well as things like transport to and from the hospital.
