Three-year-old Akisham suffers with a supra umbilical hernia, which means he’s in constant discomfort from the pain and swelling. Hernias are common in developing countries and unfortunately so are the complications that can arise from them due to many people living too far away from any emergency treatment. Akisham’s mother is desperate for her son to have the surgery but simply cannot afford to pay for it herself. Hernia operations are ranked among the most cost-effective health interventions in developing countries and are typical of the low cost surgeries that we raise money for. All money donated for Akisham will pay for the full cost of the surgery including any pre or post-operative care he may need.
