Anna crossed the the finishing line of her final marathon in her home town of Wendover on Tuesday 31st May. Covering over 800 miles Anna ran a marathon everyday throughout May with many ’adventures’ along the way including falling into the Grand Union Canal, running for almost seven hours in pouring rain and dealing with extreme heat on the first weekend.
Anna has credited the friends who ran alongside her and treating herself to a gin and tonic every night for helping her complete the challenge.
"I’m so pleased I’ve been able to mark my 50th birthday in this way. The challenge has been one of the biggest achievements of my life. It has been tough but exhilarating. My body aches and my feet are pretty sore, I have lost several toe nails, but it has been worth every step. Thinking about the children I’ve been raising money for and the challenges they have to deal with every day kept me going. It is certainly one birthday I’ll never forget."
Anna even made it one the ITV evening news http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/search/?q=Anna+Thubron
