1.75 billion Children Lack Access to Safe, Timely Surgical Care But Trusts and Foundations are Changing That.
Behind that number are real lives: children growing up with untreated congenital conditions, injuries that become lifelong disabilities, and preventable deaths from conditions as treatable as a hernia.
At Humanity Direct, our mission is simple but urgent: ensure children, wherever they live can access the surgical care they need to live healthy, full lives.
We’ve already funded over 4000 operations from neurosurgery to skin grafts but we’re ambitious and are ready to scale up and fund many more operations. Working with Trust and Foundations can help us achieve that.
The Power of a Partnership
Trusts and foundations bring more than funding, they bring momentum, stability, and vision allowing us to plan ahead and scale up our programmes .
Whether funding a specific intervention or contributing to general operations, these partnerships directly translate into children surgical care that would otherwise be out of reach.
Two recent grants helped us fund thirty seven operations including complex neurosurgery and maxillofacial surgery. The grants covered not only the actual operations but removed all the barriers that often prevents families from getting the surgical care they need, such as the cost of transport and a stay in hospital. Being able to cover the costs of such a large number of operations also meant we could confident take on more cases.

Humanity Direct offers a range of ways for Trust and Foundations to create tangible, measurable impact:
- Supporting surgical camps that deliver dozens of procedures in a matter of days
- Funding community nurses who identify children in need and provide essential post-operative care
- Investing in critical paediatric equipment that enables safe, effective treatment
- Expanding preventative programmes like Glasses for Classes, improving children’s vision and educational outcomes
- Fund a series of complex operations for children such as neurosurgery.
