I found my love for running quite late in life, probably typically of many full-time working parents looking for an activity that provided valid ’me-time’. Trail running is definitely my preference, enjoying the wild-space my running adventures have taken me - nothing fancy but our beautiful countryside. So I set myself a challenge this year, it started with running 100 miles for January which progressed to 1000 miles for the year, and before I knew it I had set myself the challenge to run 12 ultra marathons in 12 months. I like the idea that I can give back to charity very readily whilst doing something I adore and running events with Humanity Direct allows me to do that. As a mother myself, the medical care Humanity Direct makes possible for children in developing countries is a powerful motivator - both to train when its wet and windy, and when you need to dig-deep at mile 30 to complete an event. I’m very excited that my 12th ultra marathon will be at the Humanity Direct Amersham Ultra, 7th March 2020. What a way to celebrate that my body enables me to do what I love whilst supporting children that really need our help. That is all the inspiration I need.
