Alaisa had been living with a benign facial tumour that, while non-cancerous, continued to grow and affect daily life.

Over time, it caused increasing discomfort and made simple activities like eating and speaking more difficult. The visible nature of the condition also brought emotional strain, as it began to affect confidence and social interactions.
For Alaisa and their family, finding the right care felt overwhelming. Specialist surgery was needed, but access was limited. Through Humanity Direct, Alaisa was able to connect with the support and expertise required for treatment.

The surgery was performed by maxillofacial surgeon Dr Adrian Kamulegeya, whose skill and careful approach were crucial in managing such a delicate case. The operation was a success, with the tumour safely removed while preserving both function and facial structure.

Since the procedure, Alaisa’s recovery has been positive and steady. Everyday tasks like eating and speaking have become easier, and there is a visible improvement not only in health but also in confidence.
Alaisa’s story highlights the importance of access to timely, safe surgery.
