Alaisa

Alaisa had been living with a benign facial tumour that, while non-cancerous, continued growing and beginning to disfigure her face.

Over time, it caused increasing discomfort and made simple activities like eating and speaking more difficult. Alaisa was also began to feel increasingly self-conscious as the tumour grew and there were concerns that it would disfigure her face potentially affecting her eye sight.

Thanks to a grant from the Tula Trust we were able to arrange for Alaisa to get the medical care she needed to have the tumour removed.

The surgery was performed by maxillofacial surgeon Dr Adrian Kamulegeya, whose skill and care saw the tumour safely removed while preserving both function and facial structure.

Alaisa has made a good recovery and now, everyday tasks like eating and speaking have become easier and she's regaining her confidence.

Alaisa’s story highlights the importance of access to timely, safe surgery. On behalf of Alaisa, her family and everyone at HD, thank you to Tula Trust for making this possible.

This is Dr Kamulegeya explaining how Alaisa's operation went.
