17-yr-old Eric has had life saving neurosurgery.
Eric had been facing an incredibly difficult few months after developing persistent headaches and vomiting. As his symptoms worsened, concentrating in school became impossible and he was eventually forced to stop attending. His family searched tirelessly for answers, and after being referred to Humanity Direct, a scan revealed the cause - a brain tumour.

Access to specialist neurosurgery in Uganda is extremely limited, and for most families, far beyond what they can afford. Thanks to your support, Eric was able to undergo the complex surgery he urgently needed.

The procedure was carried out by Dr Hussein Ssenyonjo, one of only a small number of neurosurgeons in the country. During the operation, the tumour was carefully removed, relieving the dangerous pressure inside Eric’s skull and giving him the best possible chance at recovery.

We’re pleased to share that Eric is now recovering following surgery and is being closely monitored as he begins the journey back to health and, we hope, back to school and the future he has been working so hard towards.
Donations towards Eric’s care have helped cover every aspect of his treatment, including scans, tests, anaesthesia, surgery, medical supplies, hospital stay, post-operative care, and follow-up appointments.
Thank you to everyone who took part in the XNRG March Ultra for making this possible.
